I AM the Good Shepherd

May 2, 2009

My Lord and my God

Look!

For I am striving to do your work!

I shared the Good News

And they heard me…

People want to know more

And many have become your followers.

I am so happy!

I want to do more and more in Your Name.

Wait?

Why should I wait?

Rest?

Why should I rest?

For Lord,

You know that there is much to do

Many places to go

Many people to meet

Many souls to save…

But, you do not save them...

Yes…

Well…

Souls for YOU to save then.

Come away with me

Rest a while

Eat a good meal

Sleep through the night

You will be stronger in the morning…

BUT…

But, the weight of ministry presses down on me Lord

The upturned and desperate faces of your children

Calling…

Calling…

Always calling…

Needing…

Needing…

Always needing…

Needing more…

But not from you.

I AM everything that they need

Listen!

Listen to me, now.

You need to rest a while

Sabbath a bit

Stop striving

Stop doing

Stop wanting

Simply come into my presence

Obey My Word

Obey My Way

I promise

You’ll get more done in six days, WITH ME

Then you can do all by yourself in seven.

Rest?

Yes, rest my child.

I see my children

They are like sheep

without a shepherd

But I AM the Good Shepherd

They will have everything they need

I will lead them, sustain them

Nourish, feed, and water them

I will rest them in safe places

I will carry them upon my shoulders

I will carry you upon my shoulders

When you are weak

I am strong

Let me help you…

Gently

rest

Up

on

My

shoulder

NOW!

Yes, Lord.

Thy servant hears

and obeys.

This rhyme is inspired by the following scripture in the Bible:

Mark 6:30-34 (NRSV)

Like sheep without a shepherd

The apostles gathered around Jesus, and told him all that they had done and taught. He said to them, "Come away to a deserted place all by yourselves and rest a while." For many were coming and going, and they had no leisure even to eat. And they went away in the boat to a deserted place by themselves. Now many saw them going and recognized them, and they hurried there on foot from all the towns and arrived ahead of them. As he went ashore, he saw a great crowd; and he had compassion for them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd; and he began to teach them many things.
