Shame floods my face
I know you see me
Shouldn’t be in this place
Not where I need to be
In order to do
The things that are right
My sins accrue
My lifestyle is a blight
On, all you are
And, all you teach
You, seem so far
Always, out of reach
I know what to do
But go another way
Cain’t even construe
My mess from, day to day
With my--ugly ways
And hor--rific deeds
I’m, always amazed
At the destruction sin breeds
But, My Lord and my friend
Please let your face shine
Make me right again
In the nick of time
Sing--GLORY! GLORY! GLORY! (x2)
Give me new life
I refuse to turn back
I’m so tired of strife
And so sick of the lack
In my life I will choose
To call on your name
Making, you my muse
And never, be ashamed
To tell everyone
That you really do save
To share what you’ve done
To give what you gave
En-during love
That cannot die
God from above
You became my ally
With His last breath
Up upon the cross
Even in His death
Knew that all was not lost
And on the third day
He Got up, from the grave
Now, I can pray
I can try to behave
Like I know You
Am filled with your love
Get started anew
Expecting life from above
I am so glad
That you, rescued me
Now I am not sad
For you, set me free!
It’s nothing I’ve done
To set things right
It’s because of your blood
That everything is alright
Sing--GLORY! GLORY! GLORY! (x2)
I will ever remember
To sing your praise
Of The Church become a member
For the rest of my days
You can, count on me
To, share good news
To, never flee
And help others choose
To follow you
For the rest of their days
To, enter into
A life of endless praise.
Hallelujah to
The king of kings
I will ever lift You
No matter what life brings
I am yours Oh God
Till the end of time
With this head nod
I sign off this rhyme!
Sing--GLORY! GLORY! GLORY! (x2)
AMEN…
This rhyme was inspired by the following scripture in the Holy Bible:
Psalm 80 (NRSV)
Israel, the vine
Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel,
you who lead Joseph like a flock!
You who are enthroned upon the cherubim, shine forth
before Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh.
Stir up your might,
and come to save us!
Restore us, O God;
let your face shine, that we may be saved.
O Lord God of hosts,
how long will you be angry with your people's prayers?
You have fed them with the bread of tears,
and given them tears to drink in full measure.
You make us the scorn of our neighbors;
our enemies laugh among themselves.
Restore us, O God of hosts;
let your face shine, that we may be saved.
You brought a vine out of Egypt;
you drove out the nations and planted it.
You cleared the ground for it;
it took deep root and filled the land.
The mountains were covered with its shade,
the mighty cedars with its branches;
it sent out its branches to the sea,
and its shoots to the River.
Why then have you broken down its walls,
so that all who pass along the way pluck its fruit?
The boar from the forest ravages it,
and all that move in the field feed on it.
Turn again, O God of hosts;
look down from heaven, and see;
have regard for this vine,
the stock that your right hand planted.
They have burned it with fire, they have cut it down;
may they perish at the rebuke of your countenance.
But let your hand be upon the one at your right hand,
the one whom you made strong for yourself.
Then we will never turn back from you;
give us life, and we will call on your name.
Restore us, O Lord God of hosts;
let your face shine, that we may be saved.
